Laser hair removal works by targeting the melanin in the hair follicle with concentrated light energy. The heat generated by the laser damages the follicle at the root — inhibiting future hair growth without affecting the surrounding skin. Over a series of treatments, the hair becomes progressively finer, lighter, and sparser until the follicle is no longer able to produce hair.
Hair grows in three distinct phases — anagen (active growth), catagen (transition), and telogen (resting). Laser hair removal is only effective during the active anagen phase, which is why a series of treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is essential. Most patients achieve their desired results in 6 to 8 sessions, though this can vary depending on the area treated, hair color, skin tone, and hormonal factors.

Our laser is safe for a wide range of skin tones and hair types — your provider will assess your skin and hair during your consultation to ensure the safest and most effective settings for your treatment.
Consistency is key. Sticking to your recommended treatment schedule ensures you catch each hair follicle in its active growth phase. Patients who space out their appointments too far apart often require additional sessions to achieve their desired outcome.
How to Prepare for Your Appointment
- Shave the treatment area the day before or morning of your appointment — do not wax or use depilatory creams
- The hair follicle must be present beneath the skin for the laser to be effective — shaving preserves the follicle while removing surface hair
- Avoid retinols, chemical peels, and active exfoliants for 2 weeks prior to treatment
- Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanner (spray or foam) for 2 weeks before and after treatment
- Arrive with clean skin — no lotions, deodorant, or makeup on the treatment area
