Please come to your appointment with clean skin, and no makeup. Avoid any alcohol, Advil, Aspirin, fish oil, or other blood thinners 5 days prior to and post treatment. Plan for any bruising to last up to 2 weeks.
Please read the below pre and post care to prepare for your appointment.
If you are undergoing a filler treatment, a hyaluronic acid gel will be injected into your skin or lips to hydrate, improve shape, proportion, and wrinkles. Multiple sessions with multiple syringes may be needed for full correction as fillers are best done slowly over time to maintain a balanced and natural look.
What is normal after a procedure?
• Due to the anesthetic in the gel, you may feel numbness or tingling immediately after the procedure.
• You may experience swelling, redness, and tenderness over areas treated. A dull ache may be present for 48-72 hours.
• Mild non-painful swelling may be present up to 3 weeks. Filler may feel hard and lumpy while swelling is present.
This is normal.
• Filler may take up to 6 weeks to completely settle into the tissue and become soft.
• Bruising may visible initially, more obvious the next day before fading over 7-14 days.
How to protect your result and decrease side effects
• To decrease swelling drink 2L of water per day. Avoid alcohol, exercise, and heat such as a sauna for 48 hours.
• To decrease bruising avoid alcohol, Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, and fish oil 5 days prior to/and post injections.
• Arnica gel will also help with swelling and bruising.
• To avoid infection do not touch the area treated and do not apply make up for 24 hours. However, you may continue your normal skin care routine that evening.
• Avoid facial massages or extreme pressure on the face for 2 weeks. Try to sleep on your back for 2 weeks.
When to Contact Us
• Serious complications are rare, but it is vital to seek immediate care if you experience increasing pain, increasing redness (not a bruise), paired with pale areas of skin indicating lack of blood flow. In rare cases, the filler may have to be temporarily reversed.
